About Us
The Bermuda Gaming Commission (the “Commission”) was created in 2015 under the Casino Gaming Act, 2014 (the “Act). The Commission’s remit was expanded in August 2021 to include all forms of legal gambling on island, which now includes:
Casino gaming (Gaming Act, 2014)
Betting shops (Betting Act, 2021)
Lotteries (Lotteries Act, 1944)
Cruise Ship Casinos (Cruise Ship (Casinos) Act, 2013)
Crown & Anchor (Liquor Licence Act, 1974)
The Commission’s responsibility for regulating the gaming industry in Bermuda is based on the following five key principles grounded in the Act:
Owners, vendors, managers, employees, and sources of finance should be free from any inappropriate past or present associations and behaviours, and uphold high ethical standards;
Operators must exhibit sound operational and financial controls;
All games must be unbiased, honest, and carried out taking into consideration with a high level of security and integrity;
All fees, taxes and related payments, should be duly accounted for and paid, and;
All regulatory controls should be in place to protect the vulnerable.
